Kefir is a fermented milk drink similar to thin yoghurt and is made from Kefir grains, a specific type of mesophilic symbiotic culture. The word Kefir is derived from Turkish word 'Keyif', which translates to 'feeling good after eating'.
Kefir is a popular beverage for supporting digestive health as it contains around 30 unique species of probiotics, good bacteria that are known to improve gut health and may aid body's digestive processes. Kefir is a good source of vitamin C and K, calcium, folate and phosphorus. Kefir is also an excellent source of magnesium. Studies have shown that magnesium supports processes such as nerve impulses, muscle contraction and helps to normalize heart rhythm.
NKG Original Kefir is a Kefir base made by powdering additive-free Kefir made from Kefir grains. Unlike yoghurt, it contains many types of lactic acid bacteria and yeast, so it can be expected to be even more effective in improving gut health.
Health issues which come with calcium deficiency include but not limited to aging and low bone density. It is important to intake sufficient calcium on a daily basis. Calcium+ Kefir promotes healthy diet and creativity in cooking.
Instructions:
1. Add 1 pack of original calcium+ kefir to 1000ml of commercially available milk and mix well.
2. Ferment at room temperature (around 25℃) for 24 to 36 hours.
3. It is ready for consumption when it reaches the same consistency as fluffy tofu. Chill the finished kefir in the refrigerator and enjoy it as it is or flavour it with syrup or jam.
